Three fields, one way of seeing. How photography, art and design belong together in my work, and why image, space and identity form the bracket above them.

Three Worlds, One Way of Seeing

I work in three fields. In photography, in free artistic series, and in the design of visual systems. From the outside, that looks like three professions. For me, it is one.

What connects the fields is the way of seeing. I pay attention to structures, to light, to what lies between things. Whether I photograph a building, develop a series or design a brand, the question remains the same. What works in the image, and what can go.

What the Three Words Mean

Three terms hold this together. The image is the result, the moment that remains. The space is that in which images come into being, built or grown, narrow or wide. The identity is what a place, a brand or a person reveals of itself in the image.

I do not repeat the three words because they sound good. I work on them.

A Sequence, Not a Slogan

Image, space, identity is not a formula for outward effect. It is the order in which I see. First the image, then the space it stands in, then the identity that speaks from it. In every photograph, in every series, in every design.

Hidden Places. Places That Open Up.
A series about places that open up in passing. Urban spaces, often deserted and yet not empty. I do not photograph them to show them, but to hold on to a state.
