Spaces, Work,
People.

I have photographed commercially since 1999. Architecture, retail, industry, people, open space. What is there, not what is staged.

Medium format, tripod, patience. I wait for the light a space needs instead of forcing it. My background as a cabinetmaker and designer shapes the way I see: geometry, material, proportion.

Photography · 01 · Architecture

Architecture.

Spaces and their lines. Buildings, interiors, renovation. Clear geometry, daylight as an actor. From Antwerp to Celle.

Photography · 02 · Retail

Retail.

Sales floors, showrooms, flagship stores. Atmosphere and material, without postcard kitsch. For brands such as Polestar, Aston Martin, and KaDeWe.

Photography · 03 · Industry

Industry.

Production, halls, machines. Materiality, scale, depth. Industry read as architecture, from the ground and from the air.

Photography · 04 · People

People.

Business portraits, teams, reportage. People at their work, calm and present, never staged.

Photography · 05 · Open Spaces

Open Spaces.

Landscape and urban space. Garden shows, squares, open areas. How design works in the open.

Photography · 06 · Virtual Tours

Virtual Tours.

360-degree tours for spaces you do not have to enter. On any device, at any time. From Lamborghini France to the field hospital in Africa.

Process.

I approach a building through its lines, not through the quick effect. A drone where only the view from above reveals the order of a place. Little setup, a lot of observation.

Many assignments combine more than one field. A store is architecture, retail, and sometimes people in a single session. The way of seeing stays the same.

The tools of today are part of the work. The drone for the view from above, walkable 360-degree tours, and current AI-assisted methods in post-production. I use them where they strengthen the image, not where they replace it. What I show remains the real place.

Photography · Questions

Frequently asked questions.

Architecture, retail, industry, people at work, and open spaces. Commercial photography, since 1999. Many other subjects can be discussed, just ask. What I do not offer is classic private photography, meaning weddings and family portraits.
Yes. My studio is in Celle, but I photograph wherever the assignment is, across Germany and Europe.
It starts with a short conversation about the goal, the location, and the date. Then I photograph on site, usually with medium format and a tripod. You receive a selection that I edit carefully.
Yes. We agree on usage rights that match your intended use. The credit Roman Thomas Fotografie is part of any publication.
In post-production, yes, as a tool. Documentary images remain the real place, nothing is invented. That is the basis for credibility in architecture and industry.
Yes, with the necessary permits. I fly the drone myself and take care of the clearances for each location in advance.
Within a clear scope, yes, for smaller projects and social media material. For larger productions I work with a film production company in Hannover.
