Ten thousand steps a day through Hämeenlinna.
Two red bathing huts by the lake, from the series Hidden Places, Hämeenlinna 2026.
The less I plan and prescribe, the more readily the right images find me.
No Plan, but a Camera
Over the past weeks I have walked around ten thousand steps through Hämeenlinna almost every day, without plan or destination, with the medium format camera that goes everywhere with me. In between, short outings with Terho, the city’s photography legend, then alone again, music in my ears. Well over 1500 photographs came out of this, and many new connections along with them.
Two Series, One Self
From these walks, two series of works have grown that could not be more different, and yet both tell of my inner spaces: Hidden Places, constructed and composed, quiet deserted urban spaces. And Heimat, intuitive and experimental, landscape that begins to flow through the movement of the camera during the exposure. A selection now hangs in the Kulttuurikonttori, the culture house where I was able to work here.
